Anti-scaling ESP system: new alternative to chemical treatment

Effective scale management for mature oil wells with high water cut

Our electric submersible pump system with thermoplastic stages INP Hybrid represents highly cost-effective alternative to traditional materials for mature oil wells.

INP Hybrid ESP system is highly resistant to severe oilfield conditions and offers extremely smooth surface with non-stick properties, reducing scaling build-up and all related failures: plugging, overheating, efficiency drop, heavy vibrations and others, and deliver high mechanical strength with an end-use temperatures up to 270°C.

Key features

  • High accuracy and low weight of the parts  (4-5  times less than metallic) provide high balance of the shaft rotation that reduces radial friction wear;
  • 2.5 times longer run life in scaling fluid due to non-stick properties, corrosion-resistance and exceptional smoothness of the flow paths surface;
  • High mechanical strength together with thermal and chemical resistance allows to operate in hot environment and withstand harsh oilfield chemicals;

Optimal choice for corrosive, viscous and scale-forming fluid:

No efficiency loss and unnecessary power consumption. Smooth flow paths with non-stick surface remain clean with time, so inner space for fluid stream does not decrease in size.

Less scale build-up because polymer parts do not form a galvanic cell in the fluid.

Reliable operation at frequent on and off switching because light weight of rotating parts require less motor starting current.

No plugging and less radial frictional wear. Elongated impeller hub design together with non-stick capability.

Less operational costs and long service life. Highly cost-effective alternative to anti-corrosion coatings, reduces the need for inspection and chemical treatment.

Application results of INP Hybrid:

  • Samaraneftegaz (Rosneft), 2009: 5 times less ESP failure by reason of clogging in scaly oil wells

  • Kogalymneftegaz (LUKOIL), 2011: 2.5 times less ESP failure by reason of clogging in scaly oil wells without chemical treatment

  • TNK-Nyagan (TNK-BP), 2012: 15.3 % less power consumption in scaly oil well

  • Almetyevneft (Tatneft), 2015: 14.4 % less power consumption in high water cut (92%) and scaly oil well

  • Yuganskneftegaz (Rosneft), 2018: 2.8  times longer ESP run-life in comparison with previous equipment on the same oil well
